Every building is made up of a variety of building elements and structural elements. The 2021 International Building Code (IBC) contains tables that can be used to determine the level of fire resistance required and the materials allowed for each construction type. This interactive course explains how modifications to an interior or exterior project can affect the construction type of a building and how building height and area, construction types, and occupancy classifications are interrelated.
