Almost every code of ethics published for professional engineers and architects includes a requirement to "hold paramount" the safety, health, and welfare of the public over all other ethical precepts.  Explanations of what this actually means and includes, however, are difficult to find.  The intent of this webinar is to offer a thorough explanation of this paramount precept and provide practical examples of how this principle affects daily practice. 

• Compare the "paramount" precept presented in various professional ethical codes to benefit the community health, safety, and welfare.
• Interpret aspects of professional design practice through the "paramount" lens for community safety.
