This course provides background information about the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and its regulatory standards and enforcement activities related to workers' rights, employers' responsibilities, workplace inspections, citations, violations, and penalties. This course also provides insights into the origins of OSHA and an overview of safety and health regulations and policies intended to help employers protect their employees from hazards that can cause serious or fatal injuries and illnesses. 

• Relate the origins of OSHA
• Explain the purpose of OSHA regulations in safeguarding employees
• Review the OSHA standard categories and General Duty Clause requiring employers to protect employee safety
• Understand the process for adoption of standards and the requirement for informing employees of OSHA standards and relevant actions
• Relate employee rights, information posting rules, and requirements for reporting injuries
• Describe the process for incident investigations, workplace inspections, citations, violations and penalties
• Describe OSHA's Multi-Employer Citation Policy and define the associated employer roles
