In this interactive online course, you will be introduced to the hazard classification and categories of an irritant, a corrosive, and sensitizer. In addition, you will learn how to identify these chemicals so you can protect yourself, and others, from them. Guidance for excessive risk will be given for these substances in the workplace.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe how hazards for these substances are communicated to employees and the public
  • Identify hazards and risks of substance of these characteristics
  • Describe the hazardous determination process
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Cassandra Dillon, MS, CESCO, SHEP, CSSM
Cassandra has over 20 years’ experience in the fields of industrial engineering, environmental, risk management, occupational safety and health. Her areas of expertise include consulting in the areas of transportation, warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, oil and gas. Also, as an Adjunct Professor, she lectures in the areas of emergency planning, environmental systems, logistics, engineering, safety and petroleum technology. In regards to consulting, she provides compliance assistance in the areas of Risk Assessments/Audits, Training, Safety Management Systems and VPPPA . Lastly, she is an independent certified coach, trainer and speaker with the John Maxwell Team.
 
Cassandra currently holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University; a M.S in Risk Control/Safety Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Stout; and a Certificate in Professional Accountancy from Mountain View College. In addition, she is currently holds Instructor certifications for PEC Safety, Red Cross and Authorized Outreach for OSHA.
 
Finally, she serves as a member of the Injury Prevention Committee- Texas Governor's EMS and Trauma Advisory Council and the National Program Planning and Development, Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Also, she has professional memberships with ASSE, AICHE and ATD. Finally, her hobbies include volunteering in the community with Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and other organizations that impact the safety of the community.
