This two-hour webinar focuses on the concept of "eyes on the street" in urban planning and design. The term "eyes on the street" was coined by urbanist Jane Jacobs, who argued that the presence of people in public spaces can enhance safety and social interaction.

The webinar features case studies in urban planning, architecture, and community development which depict key “eyes on the street” criteria that create vibrant and safe public spaces.  Additionally, discussion will include design elements such as lighting, landscaping, and street furniture can encourage people to spend time in public spaces and promote community engagement. The course will also address both the benefits and challenges of creating inclusive public spaces that are accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds will also be addressed. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences and ideas for improving public spaces in their communities.
