Part 2 of ClickSafety’s new miner training adds to the subjects learned in Part 1. Part 1 provided the minimum level of training for beginning work at a mine site, including an introduction to the mine environment, instruction on recognizing and avoiding hazards, a review of basic emergency procedures, and some safety and health fundamentals on tasks a new miner may be assigned. Part 2 further discusses emergency procedures, and provides a review of first aid methods, as well as self-rescue and respiratory devices. New Miner Training, Part 2 will also discuss some of the hazards found at a mine site, such as the health hazards of silica dust, and the dangers and controls of welding and cutting, confined spaces, hazardous energies, and moving machine parts.
Part 46 of MSHA regulations requires that mine operators and/or independent contractors provide 24 hours of training within 90 days of when a new miner starts work. This ClickSafety online course can be used towards meeting this training requirement.
Upon successful completion, each student will receive a ClickSafetyCertificate of Completion that will show the 0.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and 1 Contact Hour received for this IACET-approved course. Each student will also receive an MSHA-specific New Miner Training Record form which align which align with MSHA requirements in Part 46.
