This course discusses everyday decisions that professional land surveyors face and examines a surveyor’s conduct in the context of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) “Creed and Canons.” This course focuses on the first canon - refraining from conduct that is detrimental to the public. The scenarios presented in this course affirm the underlying professional principle that surveyors are guided by a common moral understanding.
Course Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain why cutting corners can be detrimental to the public
  • Discuss why focusing a firm’s workload or bottom line can be harmful to the public
  • Identify how failing to conduct the proper research can result in harm to the public
  • Define the ways that the public can be harmed by a faulty survey
