Safety Orientation (Orientación en materia de seguridad para nuevos empleados)
Course Objectives
Al final de este curso, será capaz de:
- Identificar buenas prácticas de limpieza y orden en el trabajo que promuevan la seguridad en el lugar de trabajo
- Describir las preocupaciones en materia de seguridad asociadas con el uso correcto de herramientas y escaleras
- Establecer métodos para aislar las fuentes de energía
- Describir los pasos para responder a una descarga eléctrica
- Enumerar los tipos de equipos de protección personal comúnmente utilizados y para peligros especiales
- Describir los tipos de información que se encuentran en las hojas de datos de seguridad
- Comparar los colores y números utilizados en un diamante de fuego
- Describir las etiquetas y señales de advertencia que pueden utilizarse para comunicar información sobre los peligros en el lugar de trabajo
- Describir los pasos básicos para responder a un incendio y comparar los usos de diferentes clases de extintores de incendios
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Cassandra Dillon, MS, CESCO, SHEP, CSSM
Cassandra has over 20 years’ experience in the fields of industrial engineering, environmental, risk management, occupational safety and health. Her areas of expertise include consulting in the areas of transportation, warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, oil and gas. Also, as an Adjunct Professor, she lectures in the areas of emergency planning, environmental systems, logistics, engineering, safety and petroleum technology. In regards to consulting, she provides compliance assistance in the areas of Risk Assessments/Audits, Training, Safety Management Systems and VPPPA . Lastly, she is an independent certified coach, trainer and speaker with the John Maxwell Team.
Cassandra currently holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University; a M.S in Risk Control/Safety Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Stout; and a Certificate in Professional Accountancy from Mountain View College. In addition, she is currently holds Instructor certifications for PEC Safety, Red Cross and Authorized Outreach for OSHA.
Finally, she serves as a member of the Injury Prevention Committee- Texas Governor's EMS and Trauma Advisory Council and the National Program Planning and Development, Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Also, she has professional memberships with ASSE, AICHE and ATD. Finally, her hobbies include volunteering in the community with Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and other organizations that impact the safety of the community.
