As you may or may not know, the top four causes of construction fatalities are Falls, Struck-By, Caught-in/between and Electrocutions. These hazards are ever present in the residential home building process and you are not exempt from these many dangers. This interactive online course will cover various safety topics and will explore how the lack of adherence to these standards are risk factors to the top four construction hazards.  Please note that this course is for the express purpose of training workers on residential construction sites only.  
Course Objectives

  • Describe the type of PPE that is needed on the jobsite on a daily basis
  • Identify proper lifting techniques
  • Describe the proper steps to use when using a ladder 
  • Describe safe practices for utilizing vehicles and mobile equipment
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Cassandra Dillon, MS, CESCO, SHEP, CSSM
Cassandra has over 20 years’ experience in the fields of industrial engineering, environmental, risk management, occupational safety and health. Her areas of expertise include consulting in the areas of transportation, warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, oil and gas. Also, as an Adjunct Professor, she lectures in the areas of emergency planning, environmental systems, logistics, engineering, safety and petroleum technology. In regards to consulting, she provides compliance assistance in the areas of Risk Assessments/Audits, Training, Safety Management Systems and VPPPA . Lastly, she is an independent certified coach, trainer and speaker with the John Maxwell Team.
 
Cassandra currently holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University; a M.S in Risk Control/Safety Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Stout; and a Certificate in Professional Accountancy from Mountain View College. In addition, she is currently holds Instructor certifications for PEC Safety, Red Cross and Authorized Outreach for OSHA.
 
Finally, she serves as a member of the Injury Prevention Committee- Texas Governor's EMS and Trauma Advisory Council and the National Program Planning and Development, Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Also, she has professional memberships with ASSE, AICHE and ATD. Finally, her hobbies include volunteering in the community with Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and other organizations that impact the safety of the community.
