Geodesign for Sustainable Planning

​​Geodesign provides a design framework and supporting technology for professionals to leverage geographic information, resulting in designs that more closely follow natural systems. This approach advocates the use of six models to describe the overall planning (geodesign) process that gives us the power to use GIS as a framework for doing geodesign in digital geographic space.​ 

• Identify the basics of the geodesign process, including history, context, and process.
• Explore how geodesign integrates "smart data" when building a design-making framework that keeps the public safe.
• Recall how geodesign can protect natural resources, maintain environmental systems, reducing flooding, and minimize climate change impacts for the welfare of the community.
• Discuss processes for multidisciplinary geodesign approaches to environmental planning to adjust and adapt to our surroundings.
